Get to Know Us…

Cedar Valley Construction is the passion project of three carpenters - Mat, Tom, and Bill - who realised one day that after years of building for other companies, we’d gathered enough experience, skill, and drive to do it our own way.

We’ve all worked for some of the most respected and award-winning home-building companies in West Sussex, delivering projects worth millions. But we also saw how large-company overheads and layers of management can get in the way of personal service and attention to detail.

By forming Cedar Valley Construction, we wanted to bring the same high-end quality we’d always delivered - but directly to our own clients, with a smaller, more personal approach.

And that’s exactly what we do.

We still love what first drew us to the trade: hands-on craftsmanship, teamwork, and the pride of handing over something built properly.

Mat

Mat began his career as an apprentice carpenter and eventually moved up to lead carpenter, running teams and keeping jobs on track with precision and calm under pressure. His eye for detail and practical know-how made him the go-to guy when deadlines were tight and the finish had to be perfect.

Before starting Cedar Valley Construction, Mat moved into site management, running projects ranging from small renovations to a £7.5 million development just outside Chichester.

That mix of trade experience and big-picture management means your project is in capable hands with Mat - he understands both how things should look and how they actually get built.

Tom

Tom’s career has always been about precision and teamwork. After years as a lead carpenter with some of the top carpentry contractors in the region, he built a reputation for unbending standards and the ability to bring a crew together to get the job done, whatever the challenge may be.

He’s known for his sharp eye, forward planning, and for keeping sites running smoothly with a “never settle for good enough” attitude that sets the tone for everyone around him.

Bill

Bill practically grew up with a hammer in his hand. After starting out in the family carpentry business, he branched out to work on high-end, multi-million-pound projects alongside some of the most skilled tradespeople in the area.

He’s known among everyone he’s worked with for his relentless attention to detail - the kind of person who’ll spend an extra hour getting a joint just right because he knows it’ll bug him forever if it’s not perfect.

That eye for quality defines the Cedar Valley standard today, and people like Bill are at the forefront of making sure every detail of your project is held to that same standard.

At the heart of it all, we just love building. We love taking an empty space or an old structure and turning it into something that people will enjoy for years to come. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of handing a finished project over to a client, seeing their reaction, knowing the effort, late nights, and care that went into every detail.

For us, that’s what it’s all about: doing work we’re proud of, for people who appreciate good craftsmanship, and leaving behind something solid that speaks for itself.
